Thought For The Week – Worship

Hey everyone! This will be my last post for a couple of weeks, due to summer camp. Don’t worry though, I will be back!

This weeks thought is on worship. When we talk about worship, we usually think of singing right? You know, when we sing the good old hymns in church on Sundays, or rock out to the latest in contemporary Christian at a conference. Sadly, worship is something that most people don’t take seriously anymore. When we sing in church, we see less people singing aloud, with smiles on their faces. We see more people who stand there awkwardly, slightly mouthing the words while looking as if it is the worst day in their entire existence. And most people make excuses like: “Well I have a terrible voice”. Well, I have a news flash for you buddy. GOD DOESN’T CARE. He doesn’t care if you have a voice like an angel or if you sound like a bullfrog with a cold. He wants you to willingly lift up your voice to Him in worship through singing. Because music is one of the many expressions of worship to him. The Bible says time and time again that we are to worship Him gladness and “come before Him with joyful songs”. But that’s not all, because worship is about a lot more than singing.

You are probably thinking: “But I thought that singing was worship. Are you telling me there are other ways?”

When someone asks me if I watch Doctor Who.

You better believe it. We have this belief that worship is all about singing, when it really is a many faceted thing. Worship is done through prayer. One thing we should always do when we pray is thank God and glorify Him for who He is and what He does.

Another form of worship that is often frowned upon by Christians is dancing. But I am here to tell you that as long as you are not disrupting the worship of others, you are free to dance as much as you want. Some people just sway slightly, some people jump up and down (be aware that dancing is not ALWAYS an appropriate form of worship. Sometimes is is truly disruptive). The sad thing is, the Christians that do not approve of dancing in the church are the same Christians who have probably read the verses in the Bible about dancing for God. I personally love to dance with joy at concerts, because I can feel the Holy Spirit bubbling up to the point where dancing is the only way to express it.

So next time you go to church, don’t worry about your voice. Don’t think about the people around you, or what they will think of you. Open your mouth and let the words flow out. And be happy about it. If the song is upbeat, don’t be afraid to clap to the beat. And if everyone around you is singing, clapping, etc. and being joyful about it, try to participate. Don’t be that one person who acts miserable. It looks like this, and it is not happy: XD

And don’t forget to worship in your everyday life as well. Take time to pray everyday and thank God for what He does, and who He is.

“Shout for joy to the LORD, all the earth.  Worship the LORD with gladness; come before him with joyful songs.  Know that the LORD is God. It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.  Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name.  For the LORD is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations” Psalm 100:1-5

News for the Week!

There are widely circulating reports that the first trailer for “The Hobbit: Battle of the Five Armies” is coming out soon. These reports are yet unconfirmed, but there is a big event coming up which Sylvester McCoy(Radagast) will be attending, along with other actors from the films. My reaction to these rumors?

If-WHEN the trailer comes out, I will be doing a reaction video (hopefully), and sharing it with y’all!

In other news, I watched Iron Man and Iron Man 2 over the weekend. My thoughts? I love Iron Man/Tony Stark, and I thought the plotline and overall messages were great. BUT… the content was iffy for me, which is a given considering that Tony is a self professed “playboy”. If it weren’t for that, I would gladly say that Iron Man is one of my favorite movies, but unfortunately, it is not to be.

Final bit of awesome news: I may be getting the material I need for a Tauriel cosplay, thanks to my amazing friend Beth! Speaking of Beth, I want you guys to check out her blog! Thanks everyone!

Thought for the Week – Loving Others

So I am changing this to thought for the week, as coming up with a daily thought is becoming difficult.

Anyway…. My thought for this week is about loving others. Sounds simply right? You know, just being nice, helping out every now and then? Actually, loving others involves a lot more than that. See, we tend to forget that love is about more than just how we feel. We are more than willing to show love when we are happy, or when that person has been especially nice to us. But what about when we are in a bad mood? What if that person has hurt our feelings? Should we still love them even then? The answer is yes.

You know how you will have those days when you just want to do this to everyone? AHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, we all have them. So we should still show love? Yup. Because you see, God calls us to love everyone, all the time, regardless of how we feel, or how they treat us. “Really?” You might say. “Surely the Bible doesn’t REALLY say that.” Well, if you will turn your attention to Exhibit A…

“Jesus replied: ” ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’  This is the first and greatest commandment.  And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.”” Matthew 22:37-39

I don’t see anything about “unless you are in a bad mood” or “except when your neighbor is mean to you”. Because love is eternal. And while we will never have the perfect love that Christ has, we should strive to reflect that perfect love everyday. For example: Lately, I have a bad habit of snapping at my sister when she says something that upsets me. Should she be saying things to me that upset me? Nope. Should I snap at her just to upset her too? Nope.

So let’s all strive to be a little nicer, and show God’s love to everyone. You never know, you could be the only glimpse of God that they see. So let’s all make a goal to think before we speak, and consider if what we are about to say will show that person love. In closing, here is a verse that gives the definition of love.

“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.  It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.  Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.  It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.  Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away.” 1 Corinthians 13:4-8

The Life of a Fangirl (As illustrated with GIFs)

As a fangirl, many people think that this is what I do all day

finally an accurate gif of fangirling <<< YES!

When it is really more like this

Fangirling as shown by Mr. Renner. ~Divergent~ ~Insurgent~ ~Allegiant~

I have a lot of feelings.

This is me after I watch Once Upon a Time, Agents of SHIELD, or pretty much anything in my fandoms...

The Essential Collection Of Awesome Doctor Who Gifs

Broken-hearted Rose Tyler. (Doomsday)

I have many ships in my fandoms,

When somebody asks you what shipping is.<-- THIS IS PERFECT

And when they happen, I am very pleased with myself,

Sometimes my fandoms are scary too,

And sometimes bad things happen that make me go:

Best nope in classic Doctor Who (gif)

But being a fangirl is more than that,

When someone asks me if I watch Doctor Who.

Being a fangirl is being a part of a big family, where you can be as crazy as you want,

You can party like a Time Lord,

I think this is one of my favorite Matt Smith Doctor Who moments (gif).

Or go on adventures like a Hobbit,

hobbit funny gif | 1k the hobbit bilbo baggins kili oin bombur an unexpected journey my ...

Being a fangirl is confusing too. Sometimes we just sit there like this…

One of the most adorable Smeagol faces EVER!

Or sometimes we get shocked, and sit there like this:

Baby Goes in a Tunnel. The look on his face is so adorable!

But it is always lots of fun,

And don’t let us scare you, we just want to be your friend!

And we are quite fabulous too,

"And here we have the most accurate subtitle to ever describe anything, ever." Hehe.

And we will be friends with pretty much anyone, even outcasts, because:

Nerds unite!

We often spend a great deal of time watching or reading our fandom stuff. But we aren’t being lazy. We are either researching for a novel or fanfiction, or we are just causing some regular old…

Beautiful word, Shenanigans.

And there you have it folks! The Life of a Fangirl, though much abridged, illustrated using GIFs! Hope you enjoyed it!

Thought For The Day – Faith Like a Child

Sorry for not posting in a few days. Between my sister’s graduation and Vacation Bible School at my church, I have been swamped. This might be my only post ’til the end of the week.

At Vacation Bible School(VBS) this year, I am working with the 3rd grade. An excellent group of kids, who while old enough to understand more complex things about the Christian faith, are also young enough to still hold onto that innocent, beautiful faith that children have. It is so touching to see the complete trust and devotion they have to God, never questioning that He is amazing. When a child prays, asking God for something, they don’t just hope God will answer. They believe He will answer them and fix the situation, grant them their wish, etc.

Sadly, most Christians lose that innocent faith when they get to be teens. They become cynical, begin to doubt that God truly answers prayer. They lose the deep belief that they held as a child. The sad thing is, we are called to have faith like that of a child. Completely trusting in God, that is true faith. I have always believed that the prayer of a child is especially powerful because a child truly believes that God is going to answer that prayer. I pray that I will have faith like a child, and we should all strive every day to have that kind of faith, trusting completely and wholly in God.

“And they were bringing children to him that he might touch them, and the disciples rebuked them. But when Jesus saw it, he was indignant and said to them, “Let the children come to me; do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God. Truly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child shall not enter it.” And he took them in his arms and blessed them, laying his hands on them.” Mark 10:13-16
